Platform for monitoring air quality and environmental conditions with IOT technology
This project proposes the design, development, and implementation of an air quality monitoring system creating an IoT environment (Internet of the Things), which allows real-time monitoring of environmental values established at strategic points, and thus generate the air quality indicators according to the IMECA standard (Metropolitan Air Quality Index). In addition, environmental conditions such as humidity, pressure, and temperature.
Description
To carry out this project, it is proposed to integrate the internet of things technology (IoT) and communication with mobile technology (3g / 4g) that will be connected to a central data collection and processing system to generate data indicators. Air quality through the Mexican IMECA standard.
For this project a system will be generated that integrates 2 main devices, the first a portable device that is capable of being installed at any relevant point that wishes to obtain an air quality and its environmental conditions, said device, in addition, will be energized through a solar panel to take advantage of this energy source and reduce pollution by generating electricity and the values obtained through the IoT protocol will be sent.
The second device will be a mobile device integrated into vehicles to collect the data generated in the transport routes and to be able to make a comparison concerning the portable stations and to be able to measure the vehicle pollution. This device will be connected to the car’s battery and exposed to the weather, generating the same indicators as the portable station, adding a GPS and sending the information in real-time through an IoT communication protocol.
As an essential part of the project, a web system of environmental pre-contingency will be implemented, which will have the options for configuration and control of the stations, information on the air quality devices and environmental conditions, this system will be able to process all the information received by the devices and generate the indicators to be displayed and managed, such as alerts of environmental contingencies. In addition, to be able to visualize in real-time the mobile devices connected in vehicles next to the indicators they generate.
The utility of monitoring air quality allows the prevention of possible environmental contingencies and thus helps in the decision-making of industries that generate pollution and cities that are affected by these pollution factors, as well as alerting society about cases of pollution and the government to regulate polluting companies.
